Surf Outreach Manager: Kyle Lane

Over the 18 years of the Walking On Water organization we have been so blessed with amazing staff and volunteers from around the world!  We are excited to announce that Kyle Lane is our new full time staff.  This year Kyle will be working with FCA to improve the FCA/WOW camps and also hosting mission trips and outreach events in other countries, and launching our new surf coaching program (For advanced competitive surfers).  The Walking On Water ministry started as a small surf camp with ten students and has grown by God’s grace to impact the international surf industry with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through surf camps, movies, mission trips, and movie night outreaches.  We are excited to see all that God will do through Kyle Lane and his leadership.  Please connect with Kyle about anything listed above at:  [email protected] or by calling 760-438-1111.

Kyle Lane’s Personal Story.

As a kid, I loved watching movies while I went to bed. However, my parents would only let me do that if I chose ‘wholesome’ movies. So movies like Noah’s Arc and The Outsiders were always playing at our house. Having watched these movies hundreds of times and seeing how formative they were in my life, it is incredible that God has brought me to work full-time at Walking On Water as Surf Outreach Manager.

As a Surf Camp Counselor last summer, I witnessed God work radical transformation in kid’s hearts. That was my major motivation for coming back to WOW. The camps give kids an incredible opportunity to disconnect from the struggles, distractions and electronics that consume us. While these distractions exit, there is a new and refreshing focus and awareness of God’s presence in their lives. In addition, at camp we are surrounded by an incredible “cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1, NASB). These crucial elements make for powerfully impactful moments with Christ.

I have heard it said that a camp director ought to be a frame-maker. We construct a healthy frame that exists with the sole purpose of pointing people’s attention to the painting in the center. If the painting is the Gospel message, then the work that we do at the camps ought to always point to the work that Christ accomplished when he said, “it is finished.” (John 19:30, NASB).  It is my goal for that to be the motivation of everything that is done at the Walking On Water/ FCA Surf Camps.

The 2013 Camps were incredibly blessed. I look forward to expanding the camp ministry God has through Walking On Water. He has already begun to open some awesome doors, and I am so excited to pursue with diligence whatever God would have us do through this, His ministry!

Prayerfully prepare yourself for more intensive leadership camps, some international surf camps/mission trips, monthly surf days for the WOW family, and surf coaching/discipling!
