August played host to our first ever all girls inner city surf outreach “Sea Sisters”. It took a lot of hard work, prayer, and boldness to make this day happen, however, the expression on each of the girls’ faces made it all worth it. God showed up in a tangible and radical way that day. Each girl was left with the message that they are uniquely loved, they have a unique purpose for their lives, and they are worthy of the love of our Father. It was a special day filled with tons of surfing, but most importantly we built community with one another. These girls had never surfed before, but took on the challenge with such grace and courage. Their smiles were bright and you could see the joy it gave them. A huge part of this day was the service opportunity it gave many of the young girls I have been working with over the past year at Walking On Water. As young leaders who have attended our camps and leadership weekends, I wanted to make sure they had the space to step up and disciple other girls. It was encouraging to see how God spoke through them during this event to love on, boost the girls’ confidence and get outside their comfort zones. There will be many more outreaches like this in the future! If you would like to get involved please email [email protected]
