Psalm 18:16 He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.”V19 “He brought me forth also into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.

Psalm 18 always stops me in my tracks.  I cannot read those words without really pausing to consider all that God has “drawn me out of.”  I think of all of the disasters and heartbreak that the Lord has rescued me from.  He drew me out of it all, and TO Himself.

Then I read on, and consider the “broad place” that God has given me, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude.  He didn’t just save me–he then blessed me with so much!  The freedoms and the joys that I get to experience, are all because…He delighted in me!?  (amazing.)

These verses not only comfort me as I consider God’s goodness, they also cause me to search my own heart as to how I ought to respond to these truths:  If I’ve been rescued, and put in a broad place…What should I be doing now?  Do I look like someone who has been rescued…freed…put in a BROAD PLACE?  Why am I living so cautiously, when I have this broad place to enjoy?  Would anyone watch me and think my feet are like the feet of a deer?  And if God has enlarged my steps under me, why do I walk as though I may slip? (vs. 36)  Psalm 18 is full of verses that should make us examine how we live in response to ALL God has done for us.

In the midst of it all, we can’t forget that Psalm 18 says that God’s RIGHT HAND UPHOLDS US!  Therefore, let us not live a common, or cautious life.  Instead, let us choose to live fully and courageously, as we bring Him glory every day.  Take time to read the Word of God and bank your life on it.  Let’s live our life to discover ALL that He saved us FOR.
