Word: Romans 6:11-14

Romans 6:11-14

"…death no longer has mastery over Him. The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.”

God created us to be worshipers. We were formed with the innate instinct to “offer” ourselves, however, the act of offering ourselves to anything other than God is a sin and is a perversion of what God intended worship to be. The passage above presents our two options, we can offer ourselves in worship to Christ, allowing him to be our master or we can choose to let sin reign over us and can offer ourselves to its evil desires, leading to wickedness, bondage and death. We were created for and called to lives of righteousness, grace and life. Therefore, choose to be mastered by Christ. “Live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Galatians 5:16
