Promised Land Update
Since the time of Promised Land’s release, it has been encouraging to hear stories from individuals, all over the world, who been positively affected through the film and film screenings! This past month, we were really excited to learn that Promised Land won best film, best documentary and audience favorite at the Attic Film Festival in Austin, Texas! The film was also screened in Nicaragua, where the locals gathered to watch the movie in Spanish subtitles.
Upcoming Screenings for Promised Land include, Seal Beach, CA on May 4th, Waikiki, Oahu on May 5th with special guests Bethany Hamilton, TJ Barron, and Sonya Balmores as well as Rio, Brazil on May 12th with special guests, Bryan Jennings and Tom Curren and Damien Hobgood. Promised Land has also been officially selected for the San Diego Surf Film Festival, May 11-13 so if you are able to make it we encourage you to come out and show your support!

2012 Surf Camp Online Registration NOW OPEN!!!
It’s that time of year again! Enrollment for the 2012 Walking On Water Surf Camps is NOW OPEN! This summer we will be offering our usual week long, overnight surf camps for Jr. High and High School aged students along with four additional 5-day long surf camps. The overnight camps will be hosted at the picturesque Point Loma Nazarene University where campers will stay in the college dorms and surf each day at La Jolla Shores. The day camps will run M-F from 9am-1pm and will be held at 15th Street in Del Mar, CA.
Overnight Camp Dates:
July 9-23- Jr. High Camp (ages 11-14)
July 23-27 – High School Camp (ages 14-18)
Day Camp Dates: (ages 6-11)
June 18-22
June 25-29
Remaining 2 camps dates to be released at a later time.

Promised Land U.S. Tour Update
In just the two weeks following the U.S Premiere of Promised Land in Cappo Beach, CA, the film has been shown to an additional 4,000 people in Encinitas, Rancho Bernado and San Juan Capistrano (again). We have been continually amazed at God’s ability to do more than we ask or imagine by packing out the theatres for each and every screening! We have been greatly encouraged by the responses of the viewers and look forward to seeing how the Lord continues to work in and through this film. In the upcoming month Promised Land will be screened in Rancho Santa Fe on March 4th, Santa Cruz on March 9th and La Jolla on March 10. U.S Premiere of Promised Land Huge Success!
This past Friday Walking On Water hosted the U.S. Premiere of the Promised Land film at Capo Beach Calvary in Capistrano Beach, California. The event was completely sold out with an audience of over 1200 people who enjoyed Tom Curren playing music, free give aways, a raffle and a short question and answer time with some of the films main characters, Todd Morehead and Rabbi Barney. Bryan Jennings shares, "It was a truly blessed evening! We could not have asked for a better U.S. Premiere"

An update from Todd Morehead, the Director of Promised Land
Ephesians 3: 20-21
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
My wife and I recently returned from Israel where the world premiere of Promised Land took place. The experience of being in Israel and premiering the movie after 3.5 years of hard work was the most fulfilling experience of my life.
The first premiere was held in Ashdod at a packed-out theatre with a 100% Jewish Crowd. The Mayor of Ashdod came to give his support for the movie along with his entourage of government employees. As the movie played, the audience was enthralled by the story and cinematic quality and when it ended the entire theatre erupted in applause. Many people including the mayor came up to me thanking me for making a movie that blesses Israel and shows the beautiful side to the country and the people. Going into the evening unsure of how the film would be received by the Israeli surfing community, it took everything in me to hold back tears of joy as one Israeli after another shook hands with me, hugged me and thanked me. I was beside myself that they loved the movie so much.
After the screening we found out the minister of education attended the event and wants to implement the movie into the Israeli school system as an educational tool! The four consecutive premieres after Ashdod yielded the same response from those in attendance. On Facebook, word began to spread throughout the surf community that Promised Land is a must see film and one of the best documentaries ever made about Israel and people from many different cities began to ask if they could host a premier. Consequently, premieres are currently being organized for more cities in Israel. All the Israelis involved in the planning said the screenings were a giant success and that this is only the tip of the iceberg.
Soon after we returned from Israel, Bryan Jennings received an email from the publicity coordinator of a very popular documentary channel in Israel called Docu, asking for the movie so he could pre screen it and possibly put it on their network. This is the same network that many of my contacts in Israel said we needed to get in touch with, and it turns out they came to us first!
Please be in prayer that God would continue to use the movie, that it would be implemented into the school system, and that Promised Land would be shown in homes all around Israel. Please pray for all those who have seen the movie that the message of Yeshua (Jesus) would be received as good news. God truly did more than we can ask or imagine through the first premieres of Promised Land in Israel. Praise Him!

Promised Land Premier In Israel!
Although I have worked at Walking On Water for the past eight years I have never been directly involved in making any of the movies. My position includes leading teams of people to different countries all around the world to participate in missions and movie screenings. I have always had a passion for Israel since I was a little kid and have been blessed to spend so much time there.
While leading teams to Israel, if there were waves I would always look forward to getting in the water and spend time surfing the holy land. It was through surfing in Israel that I began developing real friendships. I would run into Israeli surfers all over the world and was fascinated that there was such a strong surfing community in this country that is all over the Bible.
The thought about sharing the story of Israel through the eyes of surfers started stirring in my heart and I knew with God’s prompting I wanted to share this incredible story with both Jews and Gentiles. I shared my desire to make the movie with my good friend Hani in Israel, and he jumped on board. I then shared the vision with Bryan Jennings and Russell Brownley (Director of Photography) and they supported the project from day one. Bryan entrusted me to direct the movie and knowing nothing about film or how to make a movie I surrounded myself with incredible professionals, including editor Jesse Schluntz and photographer Bryce Johnson, who believed in the project and made it a success.
It took three filming trips to complete the movie and every time God blessed us with amazing surf. Israelis kept telling us that “someone” was on our side. On the final filming trip to Israel we were fortunate to have Tom Curren join us, which made the already amazing story of Israel through the eyes of surfers even better! Just having Tom in Israel was such a blessing to the Israeli surfers as professional surfers rarely visit the Middle East.
Here we are, three and a half years later, $80,000 in fundraising, three trips to Israel, countless hours of editing, music rights, artwork, graphics, nine languages subtitled on the final disc, and Promised Land is about to be born! Promised Land turned out amazing, and on the production side, all my dreams for it have come true.
My prayer is that Promised Land will inspire and educate Christians to love their Jewish friends and to create an awareness that as Gentile Christians we have a responsibility towards the Jews. For Jewish people, I hope after watching the movie they feel loved and respected and they gain an interest in learning more about this Jesus we call the Messiah of the world.
I believe the movie may go way beyond the intended target audience and that many people who are neither Christian nor Jewish, will find Promised Land inspiring and beautiful.
